The business of Equipment Project Business Unit grew from Baosteel
Import & Export Company in 1985. At that time it took the purchasing
spare parts and components as its main business. From 1988 it started
to be engaged in the import and export of complete sets of equipment
and technical patents and overseas project contracting. Due to the
adjustment of the Baosteel trade system, Material Trade Department
and Spare Part Company were incorporated to Baosteel Group International
Trade Corporation in 1996. In order to meet the developing requirements
after the merge of Shanghai Steel and Baosteel in 1998, Equipment
& Engineering Department 1, Equipment & Engineering Department
2, Spare Parts Trading Department and Tender Invitation Office for
developing tender invitation services of domestic and foreign electrical
and mechanical equipment were founded.
In April 2002 Baosteel International established Equipment &
Engineering Business Unit by merging Equipment & Engineering
Department 1, Equipment & Engineering Department 2, Spare Parts
Trading Department, Tender Invitation Office and Translation Center.
Equipment & Engineering Business Unit, a trading unit of Baosteel
International, takes the import, export and domestic transaction
of electrical and mechanical products, such as complete sets of
equipment, spare parts, components, and materials, the import and
export of techniques, the undertaking of different types of engineering
projects, tender invitation and translation as its main business.
The Equipment & Engineering Business Department is to undertake
the business of incorporated parts used for the technical revamping
project, planned project and the improving repair project for the
membership units of Baosteel Group and the other social enterprises,
and the export trade, domestic trade of the odd fixed assets, technical
consultancy business and the multi-national trading business; arrange,
accept and manage the different kinds of engineering projects from
the international organization, government organs, enterprise and
institution units, to the private owner; export the personnel of
different professions concerning the engineering, production, technology,
consultancy and the labor power; accept the businesses covering
the international tendering, technical revamping projects for the
mechanical and electrical equipment by membership units of Baosteel
and the social enterprises as well as the government organs, and
the government procurement plan under public bidding.
